2016 year in review: hj editor ruth hunsley rounds up her hair moments

2016 has been one of the most exciting yet – HJ’s editor Ruth Hunsley looks back at the last 12 months. When it comes to creativity, there is no other industry like hairdressing. And 2016 has seen more boundaries broken and rules reset than ever before. Creativity has taken on new realms, with avant-garde styling fusing with commercial cuts and colours. Beautiful blow-dries and crazy colours sat side-by-side, with pastels, blondes, undercuts and slices all vying for attention. And the past 12 months have seen some inspirational and show-stopping events – from embellishment at Kevin.Murphy, futuristic at Wella Trend Vision and trend-led at Goldwell Color Zoom. Gone are the days of harsh lines and hard lighting; hair imagery for 2016 was softer and more feminine whether it was short or long hair. Click Gallery to see a round-up of some of the images that have caught my eye, as well as events that were inspiring and jaw-dropping for all the right reasons.
