Get the look: messy hair bow by toni stephenson   This hair bow by Toni Stephenson is the ideal alternative to traditional updos, bringing a fashion-forward twist to the festive season. Toni was named HJ's North Eastern Hairdresser of the Year at HJ's 2014 British Hairdressing Awards, and this shot was part of her winning collection. See how to get the look in the step by step below! 1. Apply Matrix Go Big Mousse to the hair, ensuring even coverage through the mid-lengths and ends. 2. Starting at the front, dry directionally to create root lift. Use a bristle brush to smooth the cuticle from mid-lengths to ends. 3. Next, form the ponytail. Stand at the front and position your hands where you will be placing the ponytail. Brush the hair away from the head into your hands. Apply Matrix Surround Shine to achieve a glossy finish. 4. Secure the ponytail with elastic. 5. Split the ponytail into two equal sections. Fold the first section back on itself to asses the center of the hair in order to ensure you have enough to loop and secure. 6. Place two clips in the middle of his loop, then using a U-shaped grip, thread elastic through the front hairline and tie in a knot. 7. Repeat this on the second side. 8. Back-comb the remaining hair. Place another piece of elastic to the side of the original ponytail bend the hair back over smooth into shape and secure. 9. Repeat this threading process on the opposite side, in order to secure the ends of the second side into the first side. 10. Use the ends to wrap around the base secure with grips. Apply to Matrix Hair Lock to finish.
