Statement volume and texture by jake unger   Get set to help your clients to make a statement with volume and texture with this stunning hairstyle by Jake Unger. Jake was a finalist for Newcomer of the Year at HJ's British Hairdressing Awards and is an educator at the HOB Academy, as well as being a part of the award-winning HOB Creative Team. See how to get the look in the step by step below! Step 1 For this look, we prepped the hair from wet with Alterna Bamboo Weightless Mousse and wrap dried the hair. Once dry, we then applied mousse again to double up the strength and then smoothed the hair dry again. Step 2 Section off down the middle of the hair, from the front all the way to the back Step 3 Starting at the bottom on one side, tong the hair all in the same direction until the parting. After tonging each section, wrap the hair back up to the roots and grip into place. This will help the curl to set, thus giving the style more longevity. Step 4 Repeat the process in the same way on the other side, except make sure you tong the hair in the opposite direction. This will make the hair look symmetrical from front on. Step 5 With all the sections now complete, allow the hair to cool whilst set in the clips. The longer you leave the hair to set, the longer the style will last. Step 6 Next, remove all the clips and the flip hair upside down, massaging the scalp to loosen up the curls and give volume. Once you flip your head back over, visually adapt and place the hair until you reach desired look. Step 7 Finish with Sebastian Shaper Fierce. TOP TIPS: The smaller the section you take for tonging, the curlier and bigger the hair will look. Also don’t brush the hair out - only use hands.
