Wella centre of excellence at barnet & southgate college opens
Celebrity hairdresser Patrick Cameron visited the brand new Colindale campus of Barnet and Southgate College on Thursday to officially open the ‘Wella Centre of Excellence’. There are only 34 colleges nationally that hold this prestigious status and Barnet and Southgate College is the first of its kind in London.
Patrick is the world’s leading long hair specialist, and he wowed students, staff and industry professionals with his fantastic hairdressing demonstrations. He also spoke to students about his career and how important education and training is to reach future career goals.
Patrick Cameron praised Barnet and Southgate College for their achievement saying: “This accreditation is not given lightly. Good training is the key to the success of our industry in the future and this accreditation shows the great respect Wella has for the new facilities and the work Barnet and Southgate College does.”
He continued: “London is world renowned as the centre of creativity for hairdressing and is a thriving city for students in the sector. It is great that Wella have partnered with Barnet and Southgate College. This is the best place to give students a good start in their hairdressing career and the support available is immense. Education is crucial for young hairdressers, as I see a lot of great hairdressers throughout the country who don’t continue with their training or keep up with new trends, products and tools, which is essential. Hairdressing is a life choice and this will be with me forever, I’m always looking at people’s hair.”

The ‘Centre of Excellence’ was awarded to the College after impressing Wella with their state of the art facilities and exceptional standards of training. As a result of the partnership Barnet and Southgate College will benefit from the latest professional advice and products, and the credibility within the industry that such accreditation can provide both students and staff.
The brand new five storey Barnet and Southgate College building is located within a thriving area of Colindale, which is a five minute walk from the North London tube station. Bringing education and training closer to the local community, the Wella Centre of Excellence, Beauty and Spa facilities are all open to the public for salon treatments, all the College’s hairdressing, barbering, beauty and spa management courses will run from here.
