Talking trends with the l’oreal colour trophy young colourists Talking Trends with the L’Oreal Colour Trophy Young Colourists Earlier this year, eight talented hairdressers were named as the new L’Oreal Colour Trophy Young Colourists; an elite group who were awarded for their colour expertise, and will now go on to enjoy a year of training and inspiration. One month on, we caught up with the team to find out more about their colour inspirations, aspirations and the trends they can't wait to try. Name: Chelsea Rosner Age: 23 Salon: The Chair, Canterbury Region won: Southern What do you love most about colour? I love the flexibility of colour. The fact that you can mix shades and tones to create a tailor-made colour for each client. Dream celeb colour client: Jennifer Lawrence! I love her style and to would be a dream to create a new colour to show off her latest haircut. Your style in one word: Classic Fave formula at the moment: 3/4 cool cover 9.1 1/4 cool cover 5.1 and a dot of Majirel blue mix to create a deep steel look. Colour trend you’re most excited about right now: I'm loving the fact that people are finally having fun with their colour and using semi-permanents to create pastel pinks, blues, purples and greens. Working closely with a client, you can tailor make your own formulas to give them a really unique experience. With products constantly evolving the possibilities are infinite. Dream celeb client: Agyness Deyn. She has had such a versatile variety of styles over the past few years and I feel like she'd really allow a lot of creative licence. Your style in one word: Quirky Fave formula at the moment: I'm really loving manipulating how a colour sits on the hair through the use of unconventional pre-colours, like pre-colouring hair green to allow blue tones to sit over any base. Colour trend you're most excited about at the moment: What's caught my eye recently is the introduction of dusty hues in hair, moving away from the pastel trend and into something a bit more sophisticated such as rose golds and soft peaches. That you can change a person’s image, make them feel better about themselves and boost their confidence through their hair colour. Colour trend you’re most excited about right now: I am most excited about how relaxed colour looks at the moment, it's all so natural and sun-kissed. It's great moving away from traditional regimented techniques and being able to be more creative with freehand to achieve more natural colour. Dream celeb colour client: Katy Perry. I love all the different colours she has, not to mention her cool coloured wigs. My favourite wig has got to be the blue all-over colour. It allows technicians to push clients more and more when celebs look so wicked. Your style in one word: Individual Fave formula at the moment: I love the .8’s mocha also .21 at the moment, also really love 4.20 dia-light as you can add it in to so many things like toners and all overs. Colour trend you’re most excited about right now: I'm still very much into the ombre at the moment. It can be changed and made into something elegant or dramatic. It's exciting to experiment with colour. I love how we use colour to express personality and individuality. It's amazing to be able to create custom, unique results that enhance beautiful cuts and styles. Dream celeb colour client: Can I have two? I love highlighting and creating beautiful, bespoke blondes so I would have to say Jennifer Aniston to create a gorgeous, sophisticated look. I would also have to say Candice Swanepoel who actually inspired the look for my Young Colourist entry! Your style in one word: urban-chic Fave formula at the moment: all of blonde studio!
