Wednesday addams' fringe is the new 'itt' look

Wednesday has taken over the airwaves, with some 752.5 million total hours downloaded and watched on Netflix. And the true star of the series are without doubt the double braids and soft curtain fringe worn by its star Jenna Ortega, who plays the titular character, Wednesday Addams.

The texturised fringe sweeps over her eyes and frames her face and is set to be the most in-demand fringe for 2023. British Hairdresser of the Year Cos Sakkas, from TONI&GUY, says the fringe should be ‘owned’ by the wearer. “A fringe should take minimal effort, should work with the hair texture and be easy to look after. Jenna’s 'Wednesday Addams' fringe is a real statement piece, it highlights her face shape and is playful, flirty, strong and soft.”

Martin Crean from MODE Hair says the curtain fringe continues to be in demand at his Chipping Campden salon, and adding texture is an update to the Wolf Cut. “The Wolf Cut is all about layers, a heavier fringe and a more dishevelled, sexier finish. Combine this with the ease of the Curtain fringe and you have the fringe of the season.”

Akin Konizi from HOB Academy says the fringe is the most important part of a haircut – and adding a fringe is what makes Jenna’s style so modern and fresh. “Wednesday Addams’ thick, braided pigtails are true to the character’s heritage, but adding a sweeping fringe brings it right up to date. The fringe is right at the front of the hairstyle and makes the biggest difference to the overall look. This sweeping, texturised fringe brings character to the look while keeping its historical references, makes it modern and adds a new dimension to Wednesday’s style.”
