Step by step: 2 stunning seasonal buns With the festive season fast approaching, we brought back a chat we had with Louise Foard, KeraStraight expert and stylist of Trevor Sorbie, Covent Garden, about two seasonal buns that are bound to impress, whether it’s a small gathering or a huge Zoom party.  “The inspiration for these looks comes from creating dual texture. Taking the shiny polished elements, and pairing it with more rough textures in one look,” shares Louise. Below, Louise takes us step-by-step through achieving these seasonal buns:

The Low Twisted Bun

(For medium - long hair) Seasonal buns Step One: Apply KeraStraight’s Root Boost to damp hair, concentrating around the root area for a lightweight boost of volume. Then blow-dry the hair adding a little bit of natural texture using a large round brush. Step Two: Gently brush the hair to the nape of the neck. Once you have the hair in the position you like, begin to twist in a clockwise motion. The hair will automatically start to form a bun, continue to wrap the twisted hair until you’re happy with the result. Step Three: Secure with bobby pins. Step Four: Gently pull out strands of the hair around the hairline to frame the face, you can add as many or as little here. Once you’re happy with the look, apply a small amount of KeraStraight’s Texture Creme to add definition and luminescent shine to the texture you just created. Step Five: Apply a finishing spray of your choice, and you’re ready to go!

Slicked Back Bun

(For all medium - long hair) Seasonal buns Step One: You don’t need to wash your hair for this one, so great when you’re stuck for time! First thing you want to do is create a sharp parting. This can be anywhere of your choosing, but ours is lined up with the arch of the eyebrow, slightly off to the side. Step Two: Using a brush or comb, brush the hair back to the nape of the neck, being sure not to disturb the parting. Step Three: Twist the hair in a clockwise motion, adding small amounts of Texture Creme as you go to add shine. Continue to twist round into a bun, then secure with bobby pins. Step Four: With a comb, gently sweep over the hair, positioning any stray hairs around the hairline. Then apply some more Texture Creme for extra smoothing and shine.
