What Hair and Non-Hair-y Christmas Gifts Are You Buying this Year?
HJ asked a selection of hairdressers to share what hair and non-hair-y Christmas gifts they will be buying for friends and family this year as part of HJ’s Season of Giving. Hair Please note: Both hair Christmas gifts and non-hair-y Christmas gifts were allowed. We hope this will give you some last-minute inspiration or should we say ‘gift-spiration’ for what gifts to get your friends and family this Christmas. This will be super helpful if you’re going to be spending all hours in the salon until the last second on Christmas Eve or if you’ve completely run out of ideas. And let’s face it, in a year where we can’t go out or celebrate – gift buying is more challenging than ever so read on to find out what your fellow hairdressers will be purchasing…
The hair (and non-hair-y) Christmas gifts you’re buying for friends and family this year:
A Dior purse and Dr Martens from High Street Stores
“For Christmas this year I’ve had to save up as much as possible as my girlfriend hasn’t stopped talking about a Christian Dior purse she wants! Then my sister is desperate for a new pair of Dr Martens so they’ll definitely knock me back as well. I think this year above all, is the time to spend money in our local high street stores. It’s super important for people to finish this year on a high so making someone’s Christmas and giving businesses a chance to stay open is a win-win for me !

Oribe haircare, doggy jumpers and gin
I’m usually a bit of a last minute shopper but I’m having to be a bit more organised this year. I tend to find dads are the hardiest to buy for so I’m feeling ahead of the game this year as I already have his present. It’s a canvas of his dog Percy’s head painted on an Admiral’s body. I always get my mum some luxury candles and skin care. My younger brother is easy – a good bottle of gin and my older brother recently took up cycling so he will be getting lycra. My sister-in-law will be getting therapy for the lycra and loaded up with some hair Christmas gifts in the form of Oribe haircare. I can’t forget my dog, Reggie (pictured below) who will be receiving new Christmas jumpers, toys and lots of treats.
A family weekend away
For Christmas I will be buying a family weekend away for 2021. This year really has shown the importance of having experiences and making memories with loved ones and just being in the moment by spending quality time with the people closest to you.

Spa and skincare gift sets
Christmas 2020 – well, this is a new one for all of us, and I expect many of us will be spending it in a different way. With this in mind, and that we’re unable to see everyone as we would normally, especially as my son is in Australia, our present to ourselves is a holiday. Four of us are holidaying together. For family and friends that we are unable to see, then I am buying indulgent spa like gifts to make them feel special and loved.”
