As 2020 draws to a close we’ve taken a look back on some of the articles you loved (or should we say clicked on) most this year (and there’s no mention of Coronavirus in sight we promise)! You absolutely adored Melissa Timperley’s opinion piece as part of HJ’s Apprentice Week in February with her beautiful insights on what it truly means to be a hairdresser. Ok… we may have lied just a little bit. There is a mention of Coronavirus here but in a direct sense. In March when lockdown was just beginning and the hair industry was coming to terms with being closed, you flocked in your droves to our article on the best advice tips to give to clients while at home.

5) Article you loved: Have you Heard About the £1.7 Million Haircut?

This article, which was published in May  about a documentary by Lions Barber Collective’s Tom Chapman really struck a chord with you all. His documentary discusses the fact someone in the UK takes their own life every 120 minutes, 75% of them being men so the need for change is more crucial than ever. ‘The £1.7 Million Haircut’ follows Tom taking the challenge head on, to break down the stigma around men discussing their mental health.

We could not have been more excited and clearly you were too about the fact the chop had come back into fashion. Clients who had spent months unintentionally growing their hair were desperate to get it snipped off and many took the plunge and had a complete restyle and lots more than just a trim.
