The Akito Scissors team visited Cuba recently to teach and donate scissors to hairdressers and barbers in Havana, where they discovered a 24-year old self-taught barber working in the corner of an alley surrounded by piles of rubbish.
Williams was cutting hair with a pair of kitchen scissors, a razor blade and a pair of broken clippers, and he spent time with the team teaching them his secrets to barbering. "We found that the majority of the scissors being used by the Cuban hairdressers and barbers were blunt and a lot of the electrical equipment was held together with tape, but the quality of workmanship was great," said John Allen, who donated cutting essentials to the men and women.
