How chris appleton created dua lipa's grammy awards updo For this year's Grammy Awards Dua Lipa hair was styled by Color Wow director and celebrity hairstylist, Chris Appleton in a ultra-modern take on the 1990s updo. This year is shaping up to be the year of the red carpet updo and lucky enough for your clients, here at HJ we have Chris's step by step guide on how to recreate this look in the salon.

Step by step for the Dua Lipa updo

Step 1: Start by prepping the hair with Color Wow Dream Coat Anti-Humidity Hair Treatment to create a strong base and to add shine. It’s important to dampen the hair first then apply the product in sections. Then blow dry the hair to create a smooth finish. Step 2: Generously spray Color Wow Cult Favourite Firm + Flexible Hairspray and blow dry the hair upwards into a ponytail. Step 3: Add the Color Wow Pop & Lock to a Mason Pearson brush and smooth out the hair. Secure ponytail with a bungee. Step 4: Take the hair from ponytail and create a shape using pins. Then polish the ends with a flat iron. Step 5: Use Color Wow Root Cover Up to fill in the hairline. Step 6: To finish the look, spray a toothbrush with the Color Wow Cult Favourite Firm + Flexible Hairspray and tame any flyaways. https://www.instagram.com/p/B7znkvQB3Zg/ Products used:
