Fashionistas gather for 7th annual cfda fashion fund awards

Some of the biggest names in the fashion industry gathered in New York last night for 7th Annual CFDA Fashion Fund Awards, in association with Vogue.

The celebration of all things fashionable attracted a suitably stylish crowd, but although the outfits were exceptional, I felt most of the hair lacked a little pizazz.

Leighton Meester looks suitably scared next to Chanel's Karl Lagerfeld and Vogue editor Anna Wintour - well, who wouldn't be next to those two fashion heavyweights?

Showing off her burgeoning fashion skills, Carey Mulligan - who has just been announced as the lead in the upcoming Great Gatsby remake - rocked her grown-out crop in a slightly flapper-ish gamine look; perhaps she's getting in training for her role already?

Actress Christina Ricci may not be up to much at the moment, but she still looks fab at every event she attends. This bold, blunt fringe works perfectly with her china doll features - and complexion.

Proving that long, blonde, and tousled is always in fashion, both the Olsen twins and Blake Lively opted for texture lengths. The ever-stylish Mary-Kate and Ashley definitely have this look nailed; the kinky waves and glistening multi-tonal golden shades ensure they look glam, rather than grungy. 

Blake might be the girl everyone wants to be, but I can't help but feel she needs a few inches hacking off the ends!

My fashion losers of the night are Kim Kardashian and Alexa Chung - surprising, as I love both of them usually, no matter how different their personal style concepts might be!

The slicked-back look is always a tricky one to carry off, but Kim really doesn't suit it; she's a glamourpuss and should celebrate that. And while Alexa is the queen of understated cool, this lacklustre look feels a bit lank.
