With the recent increases of energy price from the big six suppliers, it's no surprise that independent businesses are being hit the hardest by the price surge. Utilita energy, the fastest growing independent energy provider in the UK, is demanding greater transparency in energy packages available to the UK’s beauty sector following new research showing 67% of hairdressers struggle to shop around regularly for the best energy deal. The findings also revealed just over a third of hairdressers (37 per cent) believe they are getting a fair deal – and often face upfront deposits, high tariff rates and prohibitive payment structures. The Competition and Markets Authority has ordered energy firms to stop locking businesses into expensive, automatic rollover contracts - and make it easier for them to compare the cheapest energy prices. It is anticipated that these changes could help micro-businesses save up to £180 million a year.
