5 positive ways training can impact on your business

How Training Can Impact on Your Business

Hair expert and Matrix global design team member, Paul Falltrick, shares his expert knowledge on how education can impact on your business.

1. Increased knowledge The obvious benefit of education is to expand the knowledge of your team, which in turn amplifies the expertise of the business as a whole. The hairdressing industry is constantly evolving, but salons can often overlook the importance of continual training. In order to stay at the forefront of your field and ahead of the competition, being up-to-date in the latest techniques is vital. For example, one of my courses for Matrix is to teach stylists a completely new way of cutting, so it has a direct effect when implemented in the salon. But expanding knowledge isn’t just limited to the hairdressing side of the business – it’s also being well-versed in the latest products, amplifying the customer experience with great service and even impacting the efficiency of the salon by expanding the team’s managerial skills. 2. More motivated staff New knowledge inspires. This is why following your team can often have a boost in motivation following a course, which can only positively impact the whole salon business. Not only is education excellent for spurring new creativity but it also makes a team feel valued as you’re investing in their personal development and helping to further their careers in the process. It is an invaluable tool for keeping things fresh and the team energetic about the role they play in the wider salon business. 3. A new business focus  Where you direct your attention is where you yield results. Having an education plan for your salon helps focus the business and identifies the areas you want to develop. Carving out your salon’s niche will help stand you apart in a crowded market too. For example, if you have a reputation in your area for amazing colour, then growing the team’s knowledge through education and focusing your energy on becoming colour experts could leave you dominating the field. 4. Improved results Good education delivers results you can see in salon. It is an area where the return far outweighs the initial investment, as the impact is long-standing. Education has a ripple effect through the whole salon – it reaches every member of the team and the results are felt by the end client not only in the standard of hairdressing, but in the experience they receive as well.  With Matrix courses, you also receive materials to take back to the salon to continue your education. This means you can start formulating your own library for the team to continuously expand their knowledge. Having a 'learning library' is a great tool for quieter times in salons, as a stylist can utilise any free slots in a positive way – by growing their skills. 5. A reputation as the expert The most important role we have as hairdressers is to be the experts our clients expect. They pay for our services because the knowledge we have about their hair is second to none. With social media and the internet, information is more widely accessible than ever and education ensures that we, as the experts, stay ahead of the curve. Can you imagine if a client asked for the latest technique and your team hadn’t heard of it? That would surely knock their confidence in your expertise. Investment in education ensures that as a salon you aren’t falling behind. It ensures your reputation for delivering the most cutting edge hairdressing available and the impact that can have for your business is invaluable. BHBAwidgetEnter_V2
