The extended entry deadline means entries are now open until 5pm on Friday 28 May 2021 and you can enter online right now by clicking here! HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards has an extended entry deadline, which means you still have a chance to show how you are making waves within your business and ultimately changing the landscape of our industry for the benefit of everyone.
What categories can you enter?
There are 16 categories to choose from, including:
Franchisee of The Year
The brains behind the business – this category is open to all franchisees in relation to one salon and not multiple locations.
Marketing Campaign of The Year
For the best communicators in the business – this award is open to any salon or group. This category has been updated from the Marketing Award to make sure all areas of marketing within the hairdressing industry can enter.
Salon of The Year 1
Are you a single salon with an annual turnover of more than £350k? Then this category is for you. This category relates to an independently owned salon or one salon within a group. This award is for the Salon business so please focus on the professional industry aspects of your business.
Salon of The Year 2 sponsored by L'Oréal Professionnel Paris
Are you a single salon with an annual turnover of less than £350k? Then this category is for you. This category relates to an independently owned salon or one salon within a group. This award is for the Salon business so please focus on the professional industry aspects of your business.
Assistant/Junior of The Year
The future of the industry - this category is open to any junior or assistant who has been in training for a maximum of three years up to the end of June 2020. Finalists in this category will be required to attend a virtual interview or in person if possible. These will be held on Wednesday 11th or Thursday 12th August 2021.
Business Director of The Year sponsored by HJ
The driving force behind the business – forward thinkers, entrepreneurs and strategisers. A joint entry may consist of a maximum of three directors. Finalists in this category will be required to attend a virtual interview or in person if possible. These will be held on Wednesday 11th or Thursday 12th August 2021.
Customer Service Award sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional
Educator of The Year sponsored by Wella Professionals
This category is open to any educator who teaches hairdressers technical and creative skills. It is open to in-house educators, freelancers and training providers, and the education can be delivered in person or online, including through social media.
Independent Salon – Business Newcomer
This category is open to owners of new independent salons which are less than two years old by the end of June 2020.
Innovation of The Year
For entrepreneurs who make their visions a reality – this category is open to anyone who has launched a product or idea which is new to the hairdressing industry.
Male Grooming Salon/Barbershop of The Year sponsored by Modern Barber
This category is open to all barbers and salons that cater for male clients. Male grooming is a huge part of the hairdressing business sector and 2019 saw barbershops thrive on the British high street so we have opened up this category to barbershops as well as male grooming salons.
Manager of The Year sponsored by Kao Salon Division
For those that manage, inspire and motivate a salon or individual. The entry must be based on managing a single salon. Finalists in this category will be required to attend a virtual interview or in person if possible. These will be held on Wednesday 11th or Thursday 12th August 2021.
Salon Design Award
For a new or redesigned salon that has been trading for a minimum of six months by the end of April 2021.
Salon Stylist of The Year
For the best stylist in the business, entrants must be fully qualified and work full-time in a UK salon. For those that manage, inspire and motivate a salon or individual. The entry must be based on managing a single salon. Finalists in this category will be required to attend a virtual interview or in person if possible. These will be held on Wednesday 11th or Thursday 12th August 2021.
Salon Team of The Year
The team is the backbone of any salon business – this category celebrates teams of three or more employees.
