mark-leeson-bha-nominee.jpgMark Leeson of Mark Leeson Hair, Body & Mind in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire is a nominee for HJ’s 2012 British Hairdresser of the Year.

We caught up with Mark to find out more about his signature style and how he reinvents his trademarks for each new collection – including his colourful 2012 entry.

What is your signature look?

“My signature look is all about amazing hair on beautiful girls which is always complemented with stunning colour. I believe hair should be sexy, healthy, full of vibrancy and vitality and should always deliver the wow factor. My signature look has evolved over the years and is a combination of experience in cutting and colouring, and understanding what works together as a complete look.
How is your signature look reinvented for each new collection of images?

“Each collection I create has a different inspiration, but there will always be elements of my signature look which is inspired by the modern woman who wants gorgeous hair all of the time.
“Having a look that people know as yours is an important part of your brand. However, that’s not to say that you cannot be creative and push boundaries.
“I actually think you can have multiple looks that are all recognisable as yours as they always have elements of your signature running through it. Think of the Burberry mac – there are so many variants of it, but the backbone is the same and it is the detail that changes each time.”
