5 iconic celebrity wedding looks deconstructed by matthew curtis We quizzed top stylist Matthew Curtis on five iconic celebrity bridal looks. He shared his bridal styling secrets, tips and tricks to re-create the wedding looks below. Kate Middleton’s Half up, Half down Kitbag secrets: For a half-up, half-down hairstyle I’d always use Japanese pins as they really anchor into the hair and are made of strong, springy steel which gives unrivalled hold. I’d also use a curling iron, section clips, a teasing brush and of course my trusty Mason Pearson. Product-wise I’d opt for styling products that contain a mild alcohol as this makes the hair contract when you are heat styling which will result in better hold. Bridal client: This look would suit a bride with classic tastes, one who wants her wedding to feel very English. She is chic but not overdone or fussy. https://www.instagram.com/p/BiJj8d8BR7g/?taken-by=katemidleton Solange Knowles’ Natural Afro Kitbag secrets: To re-create this look I'd use a wide tooth comb, a pin tail comb and small tongs (I like Babyliss Pro) to curl any parts that need refining. A serum and a shine spray is essential to reduce any frizz – Oribe Shine Light Reflecting Spray is my go-to. To create more volume I would use a satin net to mould the shape of the Afro and bring it off the face slightly. If you want to create more definition use wax on the ends. For more volume, shake the underneath of the hair to create width at the base whilst keeping curls defined at the ends. Bridal client: This bride is effortless and natural – she doesn’t want to look like someone else on her wedding day. https://www.instagram.com/p/vejq9DOQYk/?tagged=solangeknowleswedding   Poppy Delevigne’s Loose Waves Kitbag secrets: For a glamourous 1940s style wave like Poppy's reliable tongs are essential – my top pick is the ghd Curve Soft Curl Tong. You need to make sure you are tonging in the same direction so the curls mould into almost a Marcel wave. Most people make the mistake of brushing out curls with their Mason and Pearson first, but if you use a wide tooth comb and start right at the top of the parting and brush all the way down you’ll find the curls form a set wave. Bridal client:  This would suit a bride who perhaps isn't as adventurous in her style, but who still wants to look glamorous. https://www.instagram.com/p/oEbUNUQtxc/?taken-by=poppydelevingnefans   Olivia Palermo’s Dishevelled Ponytail Kitbag secrets: Ponytails aren’t a popular bridal style, but I love this look! I would use Oribe Dry Texturising Spray to give body and texture at the roots and Oribe Apres Beach Wave and Shine Spray to create a lived-in finish. Then I would run Kerastase Styling Mousse Bouffant through hair with fingers to break up hair a little. To capture the whimsical and romantic feel of this look spray dry shampoo on a brush and very gently pull through the hairline. A lot of people don’t use dry shampoo like this, but it’s a great way to create a little bit of airiness along the hairline. Bridal client: This is ideal for a bride who is strong and confident. It’s an effortless look that keeps the focus on the dress, the jewellery and the make-up. https://www.instagram.com/p/BXq3evYAES_/?tagged=oliviapalermowedding   Chrissy Teigen’s Grecian Braid Kitbag secrets: You’ll need a soft backcombing brush to create light body at the roots for this look. Dry texture spray is essential to rough up the hair texture in an effortless way. For the braid itself, a spray shine spray is amazing to spritz onto your hands before and during braiding to ensure a clean finish. If you run flat irons or straighteners over the braid at the end it will help smooth away any flyaways too. Bridal client: This would suit a bride who loves Grecian style. It’s textured but polished at the same time. I think this would be good for a bride whose dress has a higher or detailed neckline. https://www.instagram.com/p/BVfhJcRDgI5/?taken-by=chrissyteigen
