Hairdressing industry events and awards – essential dates for 2019 These are the industry awards and events in 2019 that you need to add to your iCal (or your organiser of choice here) pronto. Follow our calendar of  when to enter in 2019 so you don't miss out.

What: A live hairdressing competition that showcases fashion-led hair looks with four categories to choose from. Who can enter: Entrants don’t need to be a L’Oréal Professionnel salon to enter, but do need to use L’Oréal Professionnel colour. When: The FHA UK Freelance Awards is held on Sunday 9 June at Hellidon Lakes Hotel Northampton What: Open to every self-employed hairdresser in the UK, the focus of the awards is on ‘snap and send’ shots rather than large production photoshoots. The prize: Previous winners of the FHA UK Freelance Awards now work with top manufacturing companies as ambassadors, demonstrating equipment and the win often leads to stage work. When: Live contest at the Global Zoom event in Vienna, Austria on Sunday 29 September. What: Based on the current Goldwell Remix collection contestants must interpret the trend in their photoshoot entry. Who can enter: All Goldwell salons can enter into the three categories – New Talent, Creative and Partner. How to enter: Open now! Check out the Remix collection, interpret the trend, choose a model and styling for your photo shoot and send back the entry form. What: A photographic contest where entrants create a style that represents the American crew man using the brand’s products. The top 15 global finalists will attend the 2019 American Crew All-Star Challenge in New York, where they will compete to become the American Crew 2018-2019 All Star Challenge global champion. When: The International Visionary Award is announced at the Alternative Hair Show on 6 October. What: An international competition that celebrates the new generation of talent in hairdressing and showcases the stars of tomorrow at the annual Alternative Hair Show. Who can enter: All qualified hairdressers – there are three categories: Men’s, Cut and Colour and Avant-Garde. How to enter: Open now! Entrants can submit more than one photograph and can enter more than one category. The entry must include over 50 words on the inspiration and motivation behind each image. What’s the prize: The opportunity to show your work at the Alternative Hair Show 2019. When: The Wella TrendVision Global Final will take place on 30 September. What: A contest that is complemented by a digital and face-to-face mentoring programme at every stage. Who can enter: Any hairdresser. How to enter:Start creating your entry to fit one of the four categories. Create Your Look sessions will take place in London (28 & 29 January), Manchester (3 & 4 February) Scotland (11 & 12 February) and Dublin (18 & 19 February) for anyone  where you can work with a leading photographer to create your look and gain vital industry expert coaching. Submit your online entry by midday on 20 March 2019. UK regional heats are on 13, 14, 20, 21 May. The prize: The whole journey is about mentoring and Wella prides itself on Trend Vision being ‘so much more than a competition’. Expect digital and face-to-face mentoring at every stage. When: Wella Xpsoure UK Final takes place 3 June What: A nationwide competition solely aimed at hairdressing students. Who can enter: Any hairdressing student with less than five years’ experience. How to enter: Create a commercial cut and colour, photograph it, upload it and answer four questions based on the chosen look. Closing date is 4 February. Regional heats take place 29 April and 1-3 May. The prize: A mentoring day with some inspirational industry icons at the Wella World Studio in London, a tailor made Wella education programme, a tool kit, and an Xposure trophy. British hairdressing business awards hairdressing industry and eventsHJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards When: September 2019 (exact date TBC). What: A celebration of the best in business in British hairdressing. Who can enter: There are 17 categories to choose from whether you’re an inspiring manager, a stand-out junior or an innovative technology company. How to enter: Entries can be made via the entry form but specific requirements for each category may vary. Entries open in February. The prize: A trophy, PR support and coverage in the industry’s leading magazine. Find out more: Call 020 3841 7365 or email [email protected] or visit hji.co.uk British Hairdressing Awards hairdressing industry events and awards HJ’s British Hairdressing Awards, sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional When: Monday 25 November What: Celebrating the best of British hairdressing. Who can enter: Qualified hairdressers who have been working in the UK for a minimum of three years. With the exception of HJ’s Newcomer of the Year, where entrants should be aged 25 years and under or have been running a regular client column for a maximum of a year. How to enter: Pick one of the 15 categories to enter and submit four photographs shot within the past 12 months. Each category has specific requirements but images must translate current trends in a creative and inspirational way. NHF business awards Hairdressing industry awards and eventsNHF Business Awards When: The NHF Business Awards will take place on 17 November in London. What: The National Hairdressers Federation celebrates the best in the hairdressing, barbering and beauty business. TIGI inspirational youth competition hairdressing industry awards and eventsTIGI Inspirational Youth Competition When: The TIGI Inspiration Youth Show takes place in November. What: Entrants get selected to attend a boot camp guided by the TIGI international creative team. From the entries received the judges narrow it down to around 20 and they come to the Academy for a skills’ test day (sort of like the X Factor!) to select the 10 finalists to perform at the Youth Show.
