Freddy French had a unique way of looking after his clients and creating hair looks. His grand salon in London's Mayfair was a Mecca for ladies looking for that personal touch.
Freddy was famous for his mastery of a brush - in his autobiography, Vidal Sassoon describes how "when a client came out from under the dryer, every head was brushed into a shape. No other implement was used except a brush."
Vidal also describes Freddy's work as "spectacularly different" and the man himself as "a visionary".
