Tigi world release berlin goes supersize TIGI World Release Berlin Goes Supersize The 2014 TIGI World Release Berlin took the German capital by storm as more than 80 models walked the runway presenting the latest collections and trends - with a spectacular finale that saw the 2000-strong audience on their feet. Anthony Mascolo started proceedings by creating a modern undercut, assisted by the future of the company - his son Josh. Compered by Nick Irwin and Christel Lundqvist, the team showcased the Cult Creations collection, a selection of textured, young and funky cuts and colours. When it comes to men the long hair and beard combo is still as popular as ever, but Anthony stressed the importance of mastering traditional barbering skills for precision lines and sharp shapes, The Academy collection mixed bold brash colours - rustic red, Nordic blonde and caramel brunettes - with modern textures that transformed everyday cuts with a fashionable flavour. Long layers juxtaposed undercuts and blunt lines, with beautiful blonde hair and lilac lengths contrasting with coppery reds. Also making their debut was the German Inspirational Youth team. Having launched in the UK more than ten years ago, the German team presented their collection of simple styles and subtle hues. [See the UK team live on stage at Salon International.] The Catwalk Creations segment was led by Nick Irwin, with looks straight from the catwalks of New York, London, Milan and Paris fashion weeks. "We take ideas from the catwalk and water them down for the client," he explained, as the session team presented soft malleable dreadlocks, tight shiny plaits and blunt pointed fringes. The TIGI Tales finale was a nod to good versus evil in a fairy tale world, with exaggerated shapes, emphasised textures and spectacular shapes. A sleeping beauty awoke to the forces of evil with dark sinister shapes before the ice queen made way for a riot of colour.
