Rush live offers eclectic mix of education and entertainment Rush LiveWith insights from the Rush experts into future trends, tips on how to master the latest cutting and colouring techniques, dramatic model presentations and live entertainment thrown into the mix, this year’s Rush Live show was as eclectic as ever. Kicking off the show, members of the artistic and colour team came together to present their Summer of Love collection. With Paola Pinto, Rebecca Counsell, Michelle Farmer, Dale Herne and Chris Williams all showcasing the latest cutting and colouring techniques live on stage, Andy Heasman described the inspiration behind the looks. They spoke of being inspired by the Hacienda in Manchester, the distinctive rave look pioneered by the likes of The Prodigy, and the light effects created by smoke machines and laser lights in clubs. They then translated all of these key themes into striking hair creations live on stage. Chris Williams spoke in detail about the latest colour techniques, including the marble effect which he believes will be a key method colourists will be experimenting with next year. Next up, the colour team was joined by its newest member, Ryan Andrews, and together with members from the artistic team, they presented their Parametric collection which drew influences from architect Zaha Hadid and a range of materials and textures. The Session Team then took to the stage and presented their Modification collection which included a dramatic Mohican from Sam Burnett, a sharp cut from Tina Farey, dreadlocks from Isabella Hyde, and an exaggerated ponytail from Jamie Benny. The evening was brought to life with urban street dancers who danced among the models. The night also raised money for the Great Ormond Street hospital, adding to the £130,000 total raised over the past year.
