Redken hosts first european symposium in berlin Redken 1.bmpHow do you bring a blaze of vibrant colour to the city of Berlin? Invite Redken to hold its first ever European Symposium there, that's how. The event saw thousands of hairdresser travelling from across the continent - and the rest of the world - to revel in the Redken ethos of "be inspired, be part of it."

Representing the UK during the three-day event were Redken artists Jason Welch, Amanda Dicker, Adam Brown, Chris Moody and Toby Meyer - who were joined by a host of talent from Europe and the U.S.

All 2,500 delegates from 25 countries gathered at former airport, Tempelhof, for the spectacular opening show which combined live demonstrations with catwalk elements and more than a hint of dramRedken 2.bmpa.

The main purpose of the show was to highlight the versatility of Redken's new colour range Chromatics, with a myriad of shades paraded in front of the excitable crowd. Just as diverse was the array of styles on display - from geometric bobs to multi-textured tresses. Crimped, curled and blow-dried for volume, hair was big and beautiful, or perfectly cut into classic graduation. Fashion was retro, ethereal and sexy in equal measure, demonstrating the versatility of Chromatics and the talent of its international team of Redken artists.

Two days of seminars followed, covering both business and creative element of hairdressing. Highlights included a presentation by Amanda Dicker of The Chapel salon group, who spoke passionately about the need for hairdressers to change the language they use with clients in order to improve service levels and profits.

British delegates were additionally treated to a two-hour business seminar on the last day of European Symposium courtesy of American salon owner and motivational speaker, Chris Sulimay. Chris talked about the importance of giving clients the right impression through effective communication. He also talked about the ways salons could add to the average client bill.

Delegates left Berlin inspired and ready to return to their salons with a host of new ideas
