Red carpet hair: the national television awards 2010

groupsm.jpgThe brightest stars from British Television were glammed up to the nines for The National Television Awards at London's 02 Arena.

Updos with interest were the flavour of the night and we ask top hairdressers to give their opinions on the hottest looks from the show.

amandaholdensm.jpgAmanda Holden

"Amanda never fails to please and this effortless chic chignon is no exception. Her hair complements her beautiful white dress perfectly and she looks absolutely stunning.

Amanda mixes the feminine with the modern, to create a striking look - styling her clothes up, but keeping her hair simple!

The combination of this classy updo with the statement neckline on her dress really makes you look twice. " Leonardo Rizzo - Global Ambassador for Indola

"Cheryl Cole is my absolute favourite style icon, I just love her. She knows how to dress for every occasion and the National Television Awards is no exception.

This look, for me, is kind of reminiscent of the 1940s Hollywood starlet of the studio era; red carpet glamour at its best. It's so great to see Cheryl working the updo as this season it's all about hairdressing.

This style makes more of a statement with the earrings and the dress as you are drawn to the intricate detailing of her outfit. She looks fantastic!" Andrew Barton, Andrew Barton

danniism.jpgDannii Minogue

"Dannii has gone and done it again! She looks absolutely beautiful and is fast becoming one of my favourite hair icons. She has proved that the bob can be just as versatile as longer lengths.

Her beautiful waves ooze glamour but have a somewhat playful feel about them. Combined with the dress and those super sexy red heels.

Dannii has opted for a statement look that just works so well for her, and it fits perfectly on the red carpet."Sharon Peake, Ethos

fearnesm.jpgFearne Cotton

"Fearne is known for bringing glamour to the rock chick look and with these beautiful gentle waves she does exactly that. Going for a simple amethyst number with details at the back Fearne looked fabulous.

These cascading, shiny waves suit her perfectly. Fearne shows that although her day job is out of view behind the radio mic, this fact doesn't hinder her at all from looking red hot whenever she steps out in public.

She's a breath of fresh air with her perfect, effortless, glam style. Definitely a hair and fashion icon to watch out for." Barrie Stephen, Barrie Stephen Hair

heidism.jpgHeidi Range

"The balance of Heidi's deconstructed, feminine updo works really well with the neckline of her dress and is bang on-trend for 2010.

While I love the 70s , dishevelled feel, I think it is a little too wide at the sides, which is ageing, so I would reign it in to fully compliment her beautiful look.

In terms of colour, Heidi definitely suits a golden blonde but the block shade has left her locks looking a tad dry and unhealthy.

Adding gold and vanilla tones to give depth would create a shinier, healthier, multi-tonal blonde ensuring she really makes an impact!" Louise Wood, The Hair Advice Centre

karatointonsm.jpgKara Tointon

"Wow, Kara's look definitely ticks all the style boxes! The deep brunette shade really compliments her skin tone and dark eyes perfectly.

The length of her hair is very versatile and the styling has been done so well, it looks like short hair! Kara has great bone-structure so she can pull-off updos with ease and this was an ideal choice teamed up with her high-neckline dress.

Being really picky, I might add some caramel and cinnamon tones around the face to make the colour less dense but this red carpet look is certainly rocking!" Carly MacPherson, The Hair Advice Centre

heathermillssm.jpgHeather Mills

"Heather definitely suits shorter styles, they compliment her features and face shape perfectly and really make a brave statement.

Her golden blonde hue works well with her skin tone but I think going a little lighter could take the look to the next level.

Personally I loved Heather's longer, Sarah Harding-esque do and would have added more texture to this look but she's definitely still landed herself on the hair hit-list!" Darren Webster, Webster Whiteman

katethorntonsm.jpgKate Thornton

"The naturalness of Kate's style really suits her effortless beauty but for the red carpet, I think she could have looked sensational with something a little more daring.

Adding more height at the crown and taking the fringe longer to below the brow would have just given that extra edge.

However, I think the colour is spot on for Kate's complexion and the caramel blonde tones make this style an award-winner!" Lisa Whiteman, Webster Whiteman
