The great and the good of Hollywood turned out for the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, at a ceremony which saw Twilight sweep the board with five awards including Best Film, Best Female Performance and Best Male Perfomance. With the winners announced, it's now time to take a look at the most important aspect of the evening... the hair!

Darren Webster and Lisa Whiteman, celebrity stylists and owners of Mayfair salon Webster Whiteman, reveal which celebrity styles rocked and flopped at this year's MTV Awards...

"Whitney looks stunning with her sun kissed golden and caramel hues. They suit her skin tone perfectly leaving it with a healthy glow. I think her volume-boosted roots elongate her face a bit too much, so would swap then for her normal sleeker look but the big, Hollywood curls are soft, sexy and definitely red carpet worthy!"

"Scarlett always rocks the red carpet with enviable style and these centre-parted curls are no exception! The middle parting is ideal for her oval face shape and the soft styling gives a relaxed but glamorous feel. I would recommend either going all out with the back brushed curls or keeping controlled, high-shine corkscrews rather than combining both, but the warm golden tone is gorgeous with her fair complexion."

 

"Bang on trend with this messy, undone ponytail, Kristen's got it spot on. Her chocolate colour and natural lights through the ends complement her pale complexion, but a few loose tendrils framing the face would soften and really finish off the style."

"Christina's clean blonde is ideal for her image. The 1940s styling makes a statement and reflects the appearance she is renowned for. Her hair looks so expensive that I would have loved an old-school glamour outfit to take her style to the next level."

"Very stylish for summer, Nicky is following in her sister's footsteps with this on-trend plait. The hue is healthy, soft and natural, ideal for her skin tone. I think going for a much looser, messier texture would have pumped up the glamour teamed with a fab fitted dress to make a stronger statement."

"I adore the bleach blonde of this look but it just doesn't work with Lindsay's complexion, as the tone is too similar. Teaming these soft, pretty waves with a deep brunette shade and increased volume either using layers or hairpieces would have left her ticking all the style boxes but she still looks amazing in that glitzy gown!"

"If anyone could pull off a bright blue wig it's Katy and she truly does! Although I think it's one too many statements when teamed with the diamante dress, the cut and styling is extraordinary and the 40s inspired look is so complimentary to Katy's old-school beauty.
