Met gala 2015: best-tressed Met Gala 2015 Best-Tressed - Beyonce feature Fashion's finest were on the red carpet for the Met Gala 2015 and it's not just the frocks that have got us talking - here we a take a look at the most memorable hairstyles from the night. The theme for the evening - and the upcoming exhibition - is China: Through the Looking Glass and on the night, this was interpreted into beauty looks through poker straight styles, slick knots and lots of dramatic headpieces. And then, of course, who were the guests who ignored the brief entirely and just rocked a nice blow-dry! Join us to take a look through some of the highlights - and, offering his expert insight, we asked Jamie Stevens for his verdict on the most striking hair moments too. Read on for more - and don't miss our gallery of every single red carpet hair look at the end! Met Gala hair - Rihanna Rihanna We say: This super-polished look has a 60s feel through the sleek, head-hugging shape and those flicked out ends, but the headpiece adds a 1920s twist. The colour looks better than ever when worn with a high-shine finish. Jamie says: I love this look. Rihanna is channelling her inner flapper girl with a subtle modern twist. A great way to show versatility to this season's must-have midi hair length trend. Met Gala hair - Beyonce Beyoncé We say: We're die-hard fans of the I Dream of Jeannie high ponytail as a general rule, but with this outfit and that hair colour, it's all just a bit much. As a glam take on gym style? We love it. Jamie says: I'm not a fan unfortunately. I love how Beyoncé wears her hair usually, but this for me takes away from her and isn’t her strongest look. Met Gala hair - Janelle Monae Janelle Monae We say: You can always rely on Janelle to bring it with an updo and this braided mohawk style is no exception. Part equestrian, part warrior princess, it's a typically striking look. Jamie says: Loving this look. A great mix of separate braiding styles really gives an on trend feel and I must say the finish is great here. The mix of texture and volume make it one of my favourite looks. Met Gala hair - Miley Cyrus Miley Cyrus We say: Blue, green, grey, whatever this colour is we love it. Not completely sold on the styling with the outfit, but the colour gets a thumbs up. Jamie says: I'm a big fan of this androgynous trend we've been seeing. Normally it's women with short hair that wear it best but this is great, mixing the masculine slicked-back finish with bob length hair makes for a great look for me. Met Gala hair - Katie Holmes Katie Holmes We say: Katie tricked everyone with this cut, teasing it out on Instagram with a series of pretend haircut photos on Instagram. The next day she was back to normal with her trademark long glossy locks, but we wish she'd take the plunge for real because this looks great on her. Jamie says: This wig allows Katie to revisit one of her old looks, but she's just in time for a revival of the trend. I'm liking the fringe here too. Its soft texture adds a subtle softness to the overall style. Met Gala hair - Jessica Chastain Jessica Chastain We say: The Met Gala is usually about outlandish show-stopping looks, but there's nothing wrong with keeping it simple when simple looks so good. You can't beat a bit of old Hollywood glamour, especially on such a striking shade of red. Jamie says: Always someone who brings Hollywood glamour with ease, Jessica's colour works really well here with the waves in the side. Keeping the hair worn swept to one side gives a more dramatic edge and allows for more hair to play with. Met Gala hair - Kate Beckinsale Kate Beckinsale We say: Some might call it safe, but Kate stands out on the red carpet thanks to the simplicity and elegance of her glossy blow-dry. Pretty far off the Chinese theme of the evening both in terms of outfit and styling, but it's undeniably gorgeous. A great example of how you can never discount a beautiful blowdry, with kates beautiful brunette with baliage colour and excellent finish she just looks beautiful Met Gala hair - Kate Hudson Kate Hudson We say: Who knew the topknot could look so good? Kate takes this old classic and gives it the red-carpet treatment thanks to one enormous glittering accessory. Those undone baby hairs and wisps really add to the high-low feel of the look. Jamie says: The topknot is a great subtle updo which we've been playing with in the salon of late. We're changing up the standard bun by adapting it with plaits and braids to give more trend led looks for clients over the summer. Met Gala hair - katy Perry Katy Perry We say: Katy teased this crop wig on April Fool's day but here it gets another outing. If she hadn't Instagrammed her extensive wig wardrobe in advance, we'd almost have fallen for it. The cut and styling do look great though - serious Madonna vibes. Jamie says: Katie is rocking the short hair at the minute. I love women who pull of the effortless texture in a short-hair-don’t-care way Met Gala hair - Adrina Lima Adriana Lima We say: Adriana not only embraced the mood of the evening, but she managed to look phenomenally glam doing so. A perfect example of how a clip-in fringe can make for a dramatic one-night-only look. Jamie says: This look caused the most debate in the salon. Ultimately the general consensus is not sure! I think when her makeup looks so amazing, it detracts from the hair a little which looks like it’s a bit too undone for the rest of the look.
