Maxine opened the salon in 2005, having purchased the business she had previously managed from the late Umberto Giannini. The makeover, she reveals, had been in the planning for some time. "I’ve always had a keen interest in interiors," says Maxine. "I have taken influence from trips to New York and London, but not from salons as you might expect. I’ve been eyeing hotels, restaurants, bars and independent boutiques instead. I had my clients comfort in mind - I wanted to bring a little bit of Bond Street to Tettenhall." With fit-outs for Burberry, Chanel and Louis Vuitton under their belt, Bridport were the first choice for Maxine's luxe makeover. "They helped to clarify my vision," says Maxine. "Their work is rarely seen outside of London, so I’ve been lucky to have them on board," she adds. The sleek new design includes elegant grey walls, Mid Century-inspired mirrors, lighting from Buster & Punch and salon chairs by Takara Belmont. And, to complement the new-look salon, a total rebranding was also undertaken by Andrew Higginbotham at Six Ashes Studio. He says: "Maxine’s new branding is deceptively simple and understated, reflecting a quiet confidence with class." To further celebrate the 10th anniversary, a VIP champagne reception was held at the salon, where the refurbishment and rebranding were officially revealed.
