Interiors inspiration: love hair Based in Broadway, the Cotswolds owners Deborah Murphy & Kate Hemming opened the doors to their boutique salon, Love Hair in July 2013.

With a focus on organic and ethical products, Love Hair is passionate about offering a contemporary service with conscience.

[hji-gallery-legacy] With an aim to create a welcoming and charming space, Deborah and Kate were instantly attracted to the interior design shop space due to the amount of natural light, open space and beautiful spot in the Keil Courtyard in Broadway. Working to a tight schedule to ensure salon preview nights would coincide with the annual Christmas shopping events, work took 21 days and involved moving a wall and doorway in order to create four extra sections. When it came to the colour scheme, focus was placed on emphasising the ethical philosophy of the salon with lots of natural wood features, pine flooring stained with black wax and neutral colours to compliment the interior and beautiful location. The salon boasts a host of interesting features; as clients enter they are welcomed by an old colonial style desk in chalky white with low level pendant lights, creating a cosy and inviting first impression. The waiting area features a church pew and open coffee table offering a wide selection of magazines whilst the display area creatively uses up-cycled apple crates attached to the walls showcasing product. Love Hair commissioned Interior Designer, Helen Bainbridge to design the salon and deem this to be one of the best decisions they made. Getting a designer to help ensured they had enough time to plan and plan again giving the salon longevity in its design and feel. [hji-gallery-legacy] Love Hair's top 5 tips on redesigning a salon
  • Contact your service and broadband provider right away if you are relocating.
  • Even if you have designed it yourself, ask a professional to draw it for you. This is useful for each trade to work from and for legal correspondence.
  • Research the most efficient and eco friendly way to heat the salon and water
  • Buy materials as soon as you are able, even if it means arranging storage
  • Maximise your marketing.
