Street style stars are huge news these days, landing advertising campaigns, modelling contracts and deals as representatives for brands.

While big names like Susie Lau of Style Bubble, Haneneli Mustaparta and the Man Repeller Leandra Medine have all surpassed the blogging world to become brands in their own right, the free-for-all nature of street style ensures there's always a new face on the block to inspire.

And while your more traditional clients may look to the red carpet or big screen for their hair inspiration, keeping an eye on street trends and knowing the names that are inspiring designers from the ground up will ensure you're ahead of the game.

Anne-Catherine Frey is one of 2013's names to watch - we asked Jamie Stevens for his verdict on this street style star's look.

"With shorter-haired fashion house models on the catwalks at Lanvin and Marc Jacobs and superstars such as Anne Hathaway leading the way with shorn locks, we're seeing a lot of shorter styles filtering through this season from pixie crops to this edgy and gothic crop seen on street-style fave, Anne-Catherine. All of which is great to see for us hairdressers.

"This look in particular is inspired from the arty side of East London - it's very Shoreditch street style. Every hairdresser should take note of the main fashion houses and high-fashion magazines for inspiration, but they themselves should look to the street for grass-roots inspiration. To stay one step ahead, and ultimately give your client the trends as they happen, it's also important to keep up to date with the latest fashion and beauty bloggers."
