Hair trends at the elle style awards 2013: texture
Arizona Muse small.jpg
Textured tresses from waves to bed-head body were a popular choice at the ELLE Style Awards this year. We asked Neil Barton, whose eponymous salon is in Edinburgh, for his verdict on some of the best textured styles.

"Arizona Muse's look has a very natural feel to it with regards to the colour and styling. Subtle copper tones through the ends add depth and movement to the hair. She has a side parting but this is a deliberately uneven line. The hair has been styled by adding a little wax to add definition to her natural waves, I recommend using the Goldwell Super Ego Wax paste to get this look."

Elizabeth Olsen small.jpg
"This colour is great for Elizabeth Olsen and really complements her skin tone and eyes. The roots have been kept quite dark and the ends have been highlights for a multi-tonal effect and a subtle nod towards the ombre trend. It's a simple centre parting with loose waves. Create this look by running your fingers through the waves to break them up."

Juno Temple small.jpg
"Blondes are moving away from icy tones this year towards warmer honey tones such as this shade on Juno Temple. The curls have been created using a curling tong and finished with lots of sea salt spray to add texture and to create a matte effect. You can get the look by using KMS Hair Play Sea Salt Spray."

Laura Carmichael small.jpg
"This hairstyle is a refreshing contrast to the 'set' look that Laura Carmichael normally has on screen as Lady Edith. The waves add body to her hair and she has avoided a polished finish for a younger feel. To recreate the look, use heated rollers to create the waves, remove and tease with your fingers to break up the curls."

Pixie Geldof small.jpg
"Who else to show us how to wear the classic pixie crop than Pixie?! The deep brunette colour complements her eyes perfectly and the short fringe draws attention to these features. The cut speaks for itself and it doesn't require a lot to style it, just a little wax to add texture."
