Get inspired by the hollywood stars that exude glamour Which stars exude glamour? We spoke to some of our favourite hairdressers to find out which icons they most associate with gorgeous, glamorous, timeless hair.
Brigitte Bardot - Suzie McGill.jpg
"When it comes to glamour, my all time icon is Brigitte Bardot. Her hairstyle has been recreated in every generation since her time, with either more texture or an exaggeration of the shape.
"She had a feminine, sexy style that remains current and is guaranteed to look amazing at any red-carpet event.
"What I love most about Brigitte is that her appearance is timeless and you will always be able to wear stunning 1960s-style waves and still look fabulous."
Suzie McGill, Rainbow Room International, Uddingston, South Lanarkshire
Audrey Hepburn - Jamie Sevens.jpg
"Audrey Hepburn epitomised the concept of natural beauty and always complemented this with great hair.
"Throughout her career, she oozed sheer class and maintained an element of luxury, but always kept her look modern in her own way.
"You can see the impact she had on fashion, hair and beauty by the sheer amount of looks she still inspires today."
Jamie Stevens, Jamie Stevens, Woolavington, Somerset
Bettie Page - Isabella Hyde.jpg
"My all time favourite glamorous hair icon is Bettie Page. Her quirky, short fringe frames her stunning features and sets off her lustrous wavy locks perfectly.
"Even though she was a 1950's pin-up girl, she had a timeless look that has remained popular through the decades and is still recreated with a contemporary twist.
"Bettie's hair was her trademark and is still recognised today as one of the most iconic hairstyles of the 20th century.
"She was the epitome of glamour, full of confidence which exudes through her style."
Isabella Hyde, House of Rush, Piccadilly, London
Faye Dunaway - Ian Davies.jpg
"My glamour icon would be Faye Dunaway when she starred in Bonnie and Clyde alongside Warren Beatty in the late 1960s.
"An effortlessly chic style that wouldn't look out of place on today's clientele, Faye brought an alluring glamour to the film with her champagne blonde, long bob and sweeping fringe.
"This is a style that is going to be popular for the Spring/Summer season as clients want to emulate a glamorous yet contemporary style."
Ian Davies, Ocean Hairdressing, Cardiff
Marilyn Monroe - Chris Appleton.jpg
"For me, the most glamorous icon is Marilyn Monroe. Her style was effortless and her hair was the key part of this look.
"First, the colour: a true platinum blonde - for me one of the most iconic shade. Secondly, the style: so sexy, so soft and massively romantic.
"It's something that has been copied again and again by everyone from Madonna to Agyness Deyn - but there'll only ever be one Marilyn Monroe."
Chris Appleton, George's Hairdressing, Leicester
Elizabeth taylor - Martin Crean.jpg
"The ultimate glamour icon would have to be Elizabeth Taylor in her heyday and in particular, her role as Cleopatra.
"Elizabeth oozed Hollywood glamour and looked stunning with her jet black hair and short blunt fringe in the Oscar winning epic.
"While she usually had a typical 1950's style which looked fabulous, this film set her apart from the rest of the pack and gave her an edge which is a great inspiration to me."
Martin Crean, Mode Hair, Chipping Camden, Gloucestershire
Edie Sedgwick 1966_edited-1.jpg
"My all time style icon is Edie Sedgwick, for her ability to be effortlessly glamorous.
"The original It-girl, Andy Warhol's muse had an iconic look which made her one of the most influential style icons of the 1960s and 1970s.
"With her unique style, Edie managed to exude glamour and fashion presence in a less obvious way than most stars, ensuring her style was totally uncontrived."

Lauren Bacall - Sharon Peake.jpg
"For me, Lauren Bacall is the epitome of a glamour icon.
"When you think glamour you automatically think Hollywood and I think that the 1940s and early 1950s studio era in particular just oozes sensuality, beauty and femininity.
"This is glamour in its purest form. Lauren was the classic femme fatale and those starlet waves were just to die for.
"I'd say they are possibly the most referenced hairstyle of the period."
Sharon Peake, Ethos Hairdressing, Manchester
Madonna - Bruno Marc Giamettei.jpg
"The original style chameleon; nobody does reinvention like Madonna. Pick a look and she's had it - or more likely, she popularised it in the first place.
"She has a lot of similarities with the original blonde bombshell, Marilyn Monroe and often references her within her own styling but always moves it on to another level. So many try to emulate her like Lady Gaga; where would she be without Madge? My all time favourite Madonna look, was the 1990's high pony with a heavy brow and red lips. Interpretations of this look can still be seen on catwalks today."
HJ's 2011 Southern Hairdresser of the Year, Bruno Marc Giamettei, Marc Antoni salons
Grace Kelly - Karine Jackson.jpg
"I think Grace Kelly oozed glamour. Her style was classic and streamlined. Christian Dior was just one of the designers she favoured and they supplied her with many clothes that were suitably formal, but she remained modern and eye-catching with her fine jewellery and elaborate hairstyles. As a style icon, she ticks all the boxes."
