Gemma scullion's l'oréal colour trophy diary Gemma Scullion's L'Oréal Colour Trophy Diary The L'Oréal Professionnel ID Artists recently flew over to Barcelona to work with Sally and Jamie Brooks on this year’s L'Oréal Colour Trophy Regional Show - we asked second year iD artist Gemma Scullion of Conrad Blandford hairdressing in Sheffield to keep a diary of the weekend. Here's what they got up to! Hi Gemma Scullion here!  I'm a second year ID Artist and as part of our amazing programme, we are lucky enough to be taken on a working holiday each year.  This year was no exception and we travelled with L'Oréal Professionnel to  Barcelona to work with Sally and Jamie Brooks on their show concept for the L'Oréal Colour Trophy Regional Tour Show. I would love to share my diary of our exciting adventure! So here goes...  LCTBCN2015b Sunday We arrived in Barcelona at the Balmes Hotel ready and raring to go and met up with the rest of our ID family - all 54 of us. Straight away we took to the streets, heading to the stunning L'Oréal Barcelona Academy where we were meet with a drinks reception. The academy was buzzing. We got seated and out came our fantastic education director, Darren Oram. As always, he gave us an amazing welcome and got the excitement going for the days ahead. Then on came Stuart Chapman and Chelsea Thompson - in my opinion one of the world’s greatest double acts! They talked us through some more of what to expect over the trip and then Michelle Cinamon, L'Oréal Professionnel Events Producer, gave us the extremely exciting and inspiring L'Oréal Colour Trophy Regional Tour brief which is what we had all been waiting for. From that point we knew that it was going to be amazing. There had been lots of talk about who was going to be presenting to us and leading us through the tour, but then Brooks+Brooks came out with Sally Brooks, Jamie Brooks and Sophia Hilton as well as Graham Cruz the clothes stylist; a real dream team. I follow Brooks+Brooks on social media and LOVE LOVE LOVE the work they do, so was pretty excited to have the chance to work with them. They presented three models, one per section of the show with a full brief on their thought process and concept for each. It wasn't just hair; we saw moodboards, clothes styling and a colour brief for all of the looks. It was so interesting to get an insight into their minds and creative genius. You could almost hear the cogs turning round in all our brains! Stuart then pointed out to us it had been a whole 90 minutes since our last drink, so we piled out into the academy reception for some tasty food from local restuarant, Farga, and plenty of drinks. The atmosphere was electric and everyone was talking about the looks, their inspirations and what they wanted to do. Then we all did the sensible thing and got an early night back at the hotel eagerly anticipating the next day. Monday LCTBCN2015 To be honest, I hardly slept the night before because my mind was racing with ideas and inspirations. At 9am we arrived at the academy ready to go and I knew that the adrenaline of the day was going to get me through - after alla sleeping is cheating!! The day was spent in workshops; the second year's workshop held with Sally and Jamie and the first year ID artists were with Sophia and Simon Shaw. We split ourselves into our preferred groups within the workshops - which was a very tough decision - and we set to work on dolly heads to practice and perfect our techniques and ideas.  It was such an amazing morning and I have never felt so in the zone. I felt like Sally and Jamie were hair gods and we were sucking in everything that had to share with us. At 1pm I was torn away from my dolly to refuel at lunch, which was another culinary delight from  Farga. It was such a beautiful day outside, but after a quick bite to eat and mini sunshine session I couldn't wait any more; I had to get back to my dolly. Eventually after loads of hard work, blood, sweat and tears, the show was born. We had it, we knew the direction and everything had fallen perfectly into place. We then had a free evening to spend with all our fellow ID artists which was a much-needed blow out. We explored the nightlife that Barcelona had to offer us and all ended up together again like one big happy family in the W hotel where we danced and drank the night away... Good times! Tuesday LCTBCN2015a This was our free day and while I woke up with a bit of a hazy head from the night before, I didn't want to waste our day off. We sampled some Sangria and seafood on the harbour and then went and did some shopping, then got back to the hotel just in time to put our gladrags on ready for our last evening. We all met in the hotel lobby and had a short coach journey to the Carpe Diem Lounge Club which was situated on the beach; such a stunning venue. We filled our tummies with some very delicious food then it was party time! We all danced the night away, making me realise that to be an ID Artist one of the skills you must have is stamina! It was the perfect way to end our fantastic trip. Wednesday Home time and back to the salon to tell all my colleagues about the trip – but without giving too much away!  I am so looking forward to the tour and seriously guys – you can’t miss this. Thanks to L'Oréal Professionnel for such an amazing opportunity. See you on the tour! The L'Oréal Colour Trophy Regional Tour starts on 12 April in Belfast.
