Position/Salon: Owner/creative director/session stylist at Y Salon, Newcastle

How long have you been working backstage at shows?
Five years

How did you get into working at fashion week?
Through sheer hard work and determination. I also received a helping hand from L'Oréal Professionnel who put forward members of their portfolio of artistic hairdressers to take part in Fashion Week.

What's your favourite thing about working at fashion week?
The buzz and the excitement you get when you get your list of shows to do. I also enjoy working closley with the designers and knowing that you are part of a team that is influencing the trends for the coming season.

What look do you predict we'll be seeing a lot of?
Dip-dyed hair, colour blocking, splattering and boyish cuts and styling which complement the brogues and masculine tailoring on the catwalks.

What's your fashion week kit bag essential?
A Tangle Teezer - great for getting through backcombed hair, knots and hair extensions

What shows are you doing this season?
Probably Central St Martins, Charles Anastase, Richard Nicoll, and Falguni and Shane Peacock.

Best advice for surviving fashion week?
Mark up all your equipment as it tends to grow legs and walk! Take plenty of water and energy bars too because you will be eating on the run between shows.
