Edward james putney: interiors inspiration Edward James Putney: Interiors Inspiration Edward James Putney is the second salon for the South London chain, a sister business to the flagship in Battersea. An Aveda Lifestyle Salon and Spa, Edward James Putney reflects the design of Edward's first salon with a hint of influence from the eco-friendly brand. The overall look of the 1,600 sq ft salon is Moorish-inspired, with Moroccan lanterns and floor-to-ceiling tiles, as well as plenty of decorative cushions. "Our mission with the new salon was to create a visually stunning space that radiates a classical and relaxed feel with elements of opulent luxury,” explains Edward. “The general feel is based on our Northcote Road salon, with a colour palette that is both energetic and complementary to Aveda branding. The emphasis is on a warm and comforting environment both professional and inviting." The Aveda influence comes through environmentally-sound decisions in lighting and water, as well as an innovative and much talked-about row of trees to separate the distinct salon zones; adding a touch of tranquility and sense of shelter from the outside world. “We sourced trees from the National Trust to use as feature partitions throughout the salon and used the off-cuts as feature legs for the styling stations," explains Edward. "We are proud of our eco credential and used recycled and reclaimed materials wherever possible - the cushions are filled with post-consumer recyclable materials, the light fittings are energy saving and low voltage and our backwash units have water saving attachments."
