Where do you get inspiration from?
Hopefully from salon management!
Great leaders are inspirational people, this does not happen by accident it has to be worked at. You can learn how here
I was recently inspired by a salon owner named Mr Alan Rimmer from a Small Salon Group in Merseyside, not a hairdresser by trade he manages his team with genuine respect and integrity and he really cares, (and I mean really cares) as a consiquence of his brilliant management skills his team respect him totally.
You see management is easy to get wrong. Manage with a heavy hand and you will lose your best stylists, manage too weakly and you will lose your best clients!
Another Salon owner who never seases to inspire me is Nicola Hollick of Chestnuts in Essex, watch this video of the Chestnuts salon Saturday Girl and see why.
When a great stylist leaves the salon, they have not resigned from the salon, "they have resigned from their manager"
Good Salon Managers are not born good they really care about people and they really care about growing the salon business for the benefit of the salon owners and of all the staff.
So where do you get your inspiration from, and if the answer is a creative person - then you need also to pick an inspirational business leader, because you may be the best hairdresser in the world, or your salon team may be the best there is - but without a well defined strategy for driving clients to the salon all of that talent goes to waist.
If you want to learn how to become a trusted, respected and inspirational Salon Manager please contact Mick Say from here.
Cheers
Hi MickSay,
Not sure that I can condone such a shameless plug on the forum! However, just this once I will let you off, but I wonder whether you have anything useful to any of these on-going debates - it might help people to get a better idea of your business advice credentials?
Perhaps you might have some advice for Wegsi, who is finding it tricky getting a hairdressing job because he's a little older than you can pay the minimum wage to - http://www.hji.co.uk/MyHJI/forums/not-what-i-expected-2e002e002e00-but-5802.aspx
Or any of these folk who are having a torrid time in the current fincial climate - http://www.hji.co.uk/MyHJI/forums/how-is-your-business-during-the-current-economic-4936.aspx
Maybe you can help Stew, who wants to know about work permits for overseas hairdressers - http://www.hji.co.uk/MyHJI/forums/p/5800/7130.aspx#7130
Hi There KT, thanks for commenting....
There is no shame in promoting a business, and I am proud to promote mine, my clients get better than the average service from me, and potential clients- particularly the ones that need help need to know I am here and hace access to support that I can give.
I will respond to Wegsi and the others in time for their morning emails. I will keep a lid on the plugs as you suggest. Please point anyone to me I am always happy to help and if I can't I possibly know someone who can.
Thanks again for commenting
KInd Regards
Mick Say
