a few weeks back we had a lady come in and she had a record card, grey coverage needed. i mixed up 1:1 7.0 and 7.4 (Igora Royal) 1/2 tube of each and 20vol developer. applied it to her roots and left it to process. now keeping in mind this was the first colour on grey hair, i'd ever done. she ended up with glowing roots just at the top front section of her head. we managed to vosene the roots to an acceptable shade, but it shouldn't have happened. i just wanted to ask does anyone have any idea what could've gone wrong? the ratios were right and i left it to process for 30 mins then combed it through to the end and left it for another 10 mins. anyone?

Hi

Have you done Level 3 or any courses relating to manufacturers (Colour Degrees/MCE)

These problems are covered in these courses.

 Education is king.

It depends on what the hair is like. If it was very coarse and almost wiry then it can help to mix the colour and peroxide in a 1:1 ratio (eg. 50mls Colour : 50mls peroxide) when colouring white hair it is important to make sure you apply enough colour to REALLY saturate the hair and to start your application where there is most white hair. 30vol may not give you stable coverage and may be liable to fade. 20vol is more effective as 30 vol will usually be used to lift more than 20vol. However, I am use Loreal and Tigi Colour so I cant be certain about the peroxide.
