so-salon-julie.jpgUK hairdressing exhibition extravaganza Salon International is just around the corner. We at HJi thought it was a good time time to catch up with some of the the hairdressing industry's most prominent figures to chat to them about the event.

When do you start preparing for Salon International?
Salon International is such an important date in my calendar that I started preparing as soon as I invited to present.

What is the concept of your show/seminar this year?
The concept behind my presentation is to analyse the reasons that clients come back to salons and how salon owners and management can gain loyal clients from this. By examining research on women's attitude to hair this presentation explains how salons can relate their expertise to each individual coming into the salon. Recent research has shown that most women and men would ask a hairdresser "what would you do to my hair?" if they were to meet outwith a salon. Clients are looking for inspiration for their hairstyle and hairdressers are the professionals who can communicate the solutions the client is looking for.
Following the recent economic difficulties, I will also be looking at innovative ways for salons to increase retail sales though added value. Customers are looking for value and it is imperative that salons do not discount, but rather add value, which reflects impeccable customer service.

Apart from presenting - what do you enjoy doing at Salon International?
I try to see as many other presentations as possible during my time at Salon International. I also love to wander around the exhibition stalls and look at all the exciting and innovative products that are being launched as some of the ideas never cease to amaze me. It is also a joy to meet up with old friends and new people within the industry that I may not have met before.

What is your favourite Salon International memory?
I have so many lovely memories of Salon International, especially ones of when I meet up with people that I may not have seen for years. One of my favourite things at Salon International is watching presentations from young, up and coming stylists, as it is inspirational and great to see young people develop such a passion for the industry. What makes Salon International so special?

Salon International is unique as it is open to anybody in the world and so you get a diverse and exciting mix of exhibitors, hairdressers and visitors.

Why should hairdressers at all levels visit Salon International?

Anyone in the hairdressing industry cannot afford to miss Salon International, as it is a priceless exhibition with endless opportunities. It gives so much diversity in business solutions and live hairdressing shows for inspiration and innovative products. This is also a fantastic opportunity for young stylists to see many of the industry's masters at work. Salon International is a fantastic incentive for young stylists as they can save up each year to go or a ticket could be included as part of an in salon incentive.

With over 35 years experience in the hair and beauty industry, Julie Eldrett is a Client Care Consultant who specialises in how to get the most from your team and your salon. Julie, who had previously owned a successful salon business, now delivers seminars to the hairdressing industry and beyond.
