Few feelings beat the buzz of being recognised by your peers and scooping an award at the British Hairdressing Business Awards.
And when there the excitement of the night trails off, there's a new warm glow as you realise the huge impact the award can have on your business.
The British Hairdressing Business Awards 2008 winners reflect of the effects that winning has had on them and their businesses.
Customer Care
Migele Experience
Dom Migele says: "Winning this award two years in a row has been hugely beneficial for my team and the salon. All the clients and the team have been positively buzzing and this creates a real sense of loyalty. A positive feature for entering the British Hairdressing Business Awards is that it allows you to do a thorough audit within the business and update and renew systems, which will enhance the salon and contribute towards a fantastic entry."
Junior of the Year
Niki Moores, Michael van Clarke
Niki says: "This year has been incredible! Since winning the Junior of the Year category my confidence has soared and this has really reflected in my performance in the salon and subsequently my client retention. The PR from the award win has been invaluable, I have experienced fantastic opportunities and I have met and worked with great people, who have become mentors, friends and an inspiration for me to work even harder to achieve my goals. Life is hectic and I have big plans for the future, so watch this space! "
Manager of the Year
Tracy McCullogh, Zoology
Tracy says: "Winning Manager of the Year was just the beginning for me and I have been non stop since. For my team and I, this was an amazing achievement and it is a huge responsibility to have this award. I am continually pushing to achieve my goals and to strive to be the best. The award has led me to many opportunities such as working with Schwarzkopf on their Global Business Programme as a Coach and working alongside Alan Austin Smith. Ultimately, this has been a huge morale boost for myself and the salon."
Marketing Award
Salon of the Year 1
Maxwell's Professional Hairdressing and Beauty
Ian Hendry says: "Winning two awards did more than further raise the profile of the salon at both the local and national level. It reminded the staff that strength comes from within the team. By re-energising their motivation and strengthening their beliefs to further pursue excellence in a competitive, economically challenging market filled with increasingly consumer savvy clients, the awards emphasised the need to marry a dynamic team with a passion for their craft to strategically aligned policies and procedures. All businesses need to seek an advantage and recognition by your peers at a national level should not be underestimated from the clients' perspective."
Salon Design
Ikasu
"Winning Salon Design of the year has been very advantageous for us. Following a big advertising campaign in January, which featured the winning title and BHBA logo, we saw a huge increase in new clients'."
Salon Team
Review, Petersfield
Paul Hawes says: "The impact on the business has been huge and very positive. It has been fantastic for the business to be recognised nationally and locally. It has really motivated our clients into talking about the salon, therefore resulting in new clients from word of mouth. I would recommend salons to enter the awards as it allows you to recognise the strengths within your team, which has been hugely beneficial."
Independent Salon
Sutherland and Barnett
Innovation of the Year
Tangle Teaser
Sean Pulfry says: "The initial success of Tangle Teaser was in the consumer industry after we were featured on Dragon's Den but our original goal was to launch into the hairdressing industry. Winning the Innovative award was instrumental in cementing the relationships within the hairdressing industry and has now led to sound business partnerships."
Retail Salon
Hair @ Jibe
Jason & Elizabeth Brierley say: "For the salon this award has been the pinnacle of all the years we have been in business. It has given the team a massive boost in confidence when approaching customers and they now see themselves as giving professional advice. Such fantastic recognition has been great for PR and marketing, which has generated new business as we see ourselves providing the full service to clients, especially for after care advice."
