Fellowship Name Mark Hayes Hairdresser of the Year

More than 400 hairdressers, salon owners, product manufacturers and members of the hairdressing press gathered at a very festive Dorchester Hotel for one of the most popular events in the hairdressing calendar - The Fellowship Luncheon and Awards 2008.
Fellowship for British Hairdressing president Steven Goldsworthy, chairman Frank Shipton and chancellor Mark Creed welcomed guests and banned any talk of the credit crunch.
"This is a credit crunch free afternoon. We've had enough talk of doom and gloom," said Mark. "The only C words will be talking about here are creativity and Christmas. Let's just have fun and enjoy the afternoon."
The event incorporated the presentation of numerous accolades, including a special Media Award to How to Look Good Naked presenter Gok Wan who credited the hair, beauty and fashion industries with 'literally saving many teenagers' lives'.
There was also recognition for Mark Leeson of Mark Leeson Hair Body and Mind in Mansfield who was given the Gold Star Salon Awards accolade for Hair Ambassador of the Year and Liverpool-based hairdressing legend, Herbert Howe, who received a Lifetime Achievement Awards.
While the ultimate award of the day, Fellowship Hairdresser of the Year went to Mark Hayes, international creative director for Sassoon. "I accept this on behalf of the entire Sassoon organisation," said Mark.
The event also saw the announcement of the new F.A.M.E team for 2009. The lucky four are: Christopher Appleton, George's Leicester; Kathryn Dartnell, Harington's, Winchetser; Katy Mulcahy, Lisa Shepherd, Birmingham; and Indira Schauwecker, Toni & Guy Academy, London.
