TONI&GUY Creations on Day Three at London Fashion Week

TONI&GUY teams lead by Jan Przemyk,  Tim Furssedonn and Samantha Hillerby and Efi Davies spent a busy day creating hair to complement catwalk shows of designers including Giles Deacon on day three of London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 09.

With inspiration ranging from Pac Man to vintage Hollywood, the session stylists had to be at their creative best.

Tuesday 16th September

Giles Deacon
Oversized helmets teamed with mainly structured tailored dresses, embellished with military style army prints and accessorised with origami cut-out collars, set against a back drop of black & white, grey, yellow, and accents of silver glitter detailing.

To complement the strength of the silhouette, hair was deliberately kept really soft and textured, having been styled away from the face, to maintain a loosely structured shape that was tight around the sides and distressed at the crown, with a nest like effect.

Hairstyles created
The hair was prepped with mousse to inject the necessary volume and then a small section around the back of the head was loosely pulled to the nape and secured in a ponytail with elastic. The ponytail was then barrel curled and secured under with a grip. Using fingertips the hair was then slightly pulled at around the sides and at the crown, creating a distressed texture keeping a loose chignon effect.

Must-have session kit
Pins and grips, tail comb, thin elastics, cushion brush, hairspray, sea salt spray and volume mousse

Hemyca
All about powerful femininity. This is statement dressing, with a Parisian feel, tailored and complementary cuts, accentuating waists, hips and shoulders.

Groomed and grown up, with a nod to the 1940s.  Simple and structural sculpted shapes offset - giving reference to retro jaunty hats.

Hairstyles created
A section of hair was taken at the front of the head and an offset top knot was created.  The remaining hair was placed into a high ponytail at the crown and tonged.  The ponytail was then brushed through and sculpted into soft, glossy, structured shapes and secured with elastic.

Must-have session kit
Digital control tongs, cushion brush, elastics, volume mousse, hairspray, hair polish.

Jojo&Malou
Inspired by private detectives and secret agents, the collection contains hidden depths of mystery and surrealism, including cropped trench coats with an understated colour palette.

A throwback to the 1960s with young and sporty ponytails - think Bridget Bardot or Sandra Dee. Surplus length with plenty of backcombing and texturising.

Laura Lees
A vibrant collection, full of fun and playfulness, with an 80's feel.  Primary blues, red's and yellows mixed with grassy green and zesty orange, with the focal feature being decadent floral embroidery - perfect for spring.

With reference to 80s club kids - introducing bright colours within the hair with the creation of circular shapes and forms on top of the head with hidden twists and knots for femininity.

The hair was sectioned into three parallel ponytails on top of the head; these were then worked around vibrantly coloured chignon rings, forming multi-sized circular shapes in the hair.
