What's your favourite Salon International memory?
Being wheeled around Salon International in a wheelchair, as I'd broken my ankle just a few weeks before in 2007... I was the reigning British Hairdresser Of The Year and was treated like hair royalty. Even Jayne Lewis-Orr, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Hairdressers Journal was pushing me around. At Saks we presented our latest collection for the first time and I held centre stage on crutches... Well you can't miss Salon International can you?!!
What do you get out of your Salon International visit?
At Saks it's a time for the Art Team to see what's happening outside of our bubble and meet and greet clients from all over the world. We usually host education events at our London Academy to showcase our latest collection so it's a really busy time for us but full of energy ....we love it !
What will you be doing at this year's exhibition?
Meetings, lunchs, dinners, breakfasts...it will be a weekend packed full of activity with our distributors, clients and of course our own staff who come to the event. We have over 140 salons in the UK, so Salon is a great time for the teams to come to London and see what's happening in hair world. Tracey Gallagher, Saks Shows Director is busily planning lots of educational experiences we will share with the visitors to Salon.
Who or what inspires you most at the exhibition?
I guess what inspires me most is seeing the diversity of our industry - the creativity all under one roof. We all have our own tastes from the wild and whacky to the most beautiful of sophisticated images and at Salon International it's all on show for you to pick and choose from! It's a very cool event!
What's your top tip for first time visitors?
For a first time visitor I'd say plan ahead. Do your research and see what you'd like to see first and then go and spend some time looking at the things you didn't expect that you'd want to see...you never know you just might be amazed in a whole new way! Salon International certainly attracts a lot of regular fans who come every year...I'm one of them...I've been hairdressing for 25 years and have never missed one
What's in your Salon International Survival Kit?
My business card, Credit card for shopping and a note book and pen!
What's your Salon International soundtrack?
Ohh...I wish I could remember ...Each year Salon International does unknowingly have a sound track as many exhibitors and shows use a popular piece that then becomes the soundtrack of Salon.
Sum up Salon International in three words.
You've gotta go!
