Ever noticed that there's a very fine line between head turning hair and hair that turns heads for all the wrong reasons? Take this week's celebrity hair-o-meter; there are plaits that look oh so good and there are plaits that look oh so grim (yes, Fergie, we're talking to you).

	Lauren Conrad Lauren's loose waves always give her that Californian girl natural look; the volume through the top section creates a youthful and wearable alternative to the beehive.
	Sarah Dunn A combination of plaits and curls may sound childish; but the former Hollyoaks beauty easily pulls of a great glamorous red carpet updo hairstyle.
	Emma Watson Emma Watson's simple updo looks effortless with loose strands hanging down in all the right places. If only we all had a wizardry spell that gave us perfect hair every time.
	Stacy 'Fergie' Ferguson Fergie's fish tail plait looks like she's just come out of the ocean to pose as a mermaid. Maybe it's best Fergie leaves the plaits to schoolgirls.
	Eva Green How long do you think it took Eva Green to backcomb this very large furball? And while we're at it, it is just us or does this asymmetric look rather resemble a wig that has slipped to one side?
