Enter The Alternative Hair Visionary Award 2008

alternative-hair-show.jpgWhen he took on the role of President of Alternative Hair, Anthony Mascolo, had the idea of running a photographic award to select a group of hairdressers to participate in a section of the Alternative Hair Show, entitled the Visionary Award Show.   

In 2008, the Visionary Award is back offering hairdressers the exciting opportunity to show their work in front of a 5,500-strong international audience.

As this year's Alternative Hair show celebrates the 80th birthday of Alternative Hair Patron, Vidal Sassoon, entrants should submit one 10" x 12" image that has been inspired by the work of Vidal Sassoon. 

From the entries received, 12 hairdressers will be invited to recreate their idea and appear on stage at the Alternative Hair Show on Sunday October, 19th, 2008.

The winner of the Visionary Award Competition 2008 will be announced at the Show on October 19th, and will also be invited to take part in next year's Alternative Hair Show.

CLOSING DATE SEPTEMBER 5th

How To Enter The Alternative Hair Visionary Award

  • Research the hairstyles created by Vidal Sassoon during his momentous career. Use his work as starting point and then create an image that is your personal homage to Vidal Sassoon.
  • Create your look using wigs and hair-pieces if required but if you are one of these 10 stylists selected to appear at the 2008 Alternative Hair Show, you must be able to recreate this look unaided.
  • Explain in no more than 50 words what inspired and motivated your image.
  • On the reverse of your photograph, attach your name, salon name, salon address, day telephone, mobile number and e-mail.
  • Send your entry to the 2008 Visionary Award, Alternative Hair, 4th floor,39-40 Eagle Street, London WC1R 4TH. An entry fee of £30 is payable.  This will go directly to Leukaemia Research and should be paid with a cheque payable to 'Leukaemia Research'.
