"Curls are back and here to stay" according to two-times British Hairdresser of the Year Beverly C MBE.
Having made the bold prediction, curls were, naturally, one of the stunning looks Beverly created in front of a sell-out audience at the Goldwell Academy in Mayfair for an audience with Beverly C.
During the two hour presentation, Beverly demonstrated cutting, finishing and avant garde techniques, including her passion for razor-cutting, colour placement to complement the cut and the art of using hair pieces.
While creating head-turning looks based on this year’s Trend Zoom looks, Newstalgia and Rockmantic, the spring/summer catwalk shows and her own trend interpretations, Beverly explained the key trends for hair this year and how they can be adapted for use in the salon.
The evening ended with a question and answer session, giving the audience the chance to ask their idol about her successful career.
One question that got Beverly stumped was a real tough one: "What felt better, winning British Hairdresser of the Year or getting an MBE?"
"Winning British was incredible and winning twice in a row was unbelievable – I spat my coffee all over the table when they announced it was me again!" Beverly replied. "Both are huge achievements, and I think they are also great for girl-power in the industry.
"Getting the MBE was a totally different feeling though, as it is a recognition beyond the hairdressing industry, which is great for hairdressing and great for me!”
