Remembering lauren bacall Lauren Bacall hair Lauren Bacall, who has died at the age of 89, was one of the last hairdressing icons of a bygone era. Famous for her deep side-parted waves and 'The Look' - a slyly-raised 'brow, peeking out from the curls that cascaded over one side of her face. Alexandre de Paris was one of the hairdressers entrusted with styling Lauren's famous locks in a style which has remained iconic ever since. "For me, Lauren Bacall is the epitome of a glamour icon," says Sharon Peake, Ethos Hairdressing, Manchester. "When you think glamour you automatically think Hollywood and I think that the 1940s and early 1950s studio era in particular just oozes sensuality, beauty and femininity. This is glamour in its purest form. Lauren was the classic femme fatale and those starlet waves were just to die for. I’d say they are possibly the most referenced hairstyle of the period."
