Rave on: double buns make their comeback with a little help from miley Miley Cyrus double raver buns One of the many talked-about elements of Miley Cyrus's performance at the 2013 MTV VMAs was her 90s-style double raver buns. Putting aside the twerking, the foam hand and those PVC pants, the one thing that we can all agree on from Miley's unforgettable appearance was that mini buns are back. This isn't the first time we've seen Miley rock the style - which those of us who grew up in the 90s will most associate with Bjork, Gwen, and The  Tribe - and she's not the first star to revisit this knotted look for 2013 either. As the 90s revival continues to roll on, we asked Ricky Lee Jones from Jones & Payne in Shoreditch what he makes of the look - and how mere mortals can mirror (some) of Miley's style. "The 90s is all the rage at the moment and with the original house style and old-school classic trainers back on the streets, we knew it wouldn't take too long for the hair to catch up. "With this look there is a fine line to getting it right and placement really is key; in the wrong position you could looking a little bit of a disaster. "To create this look it's best not to have clean hair - it's better to 'dirty up' with a salt spray like Unite Beach Day to add texture and hold. "Take two - or up to a maximum of four - sections of varying sizes and angles then, for a really old-school look, tie off tightly to the root and then twist and pin to give that Bjork look. "However to make this style more modern I'd wear it a lot more baggy and looser at the root, making the twisted buns a bit softer. Before twisting the hair to the loose buns add a little Unite Expanda Dust so the buns have a lot of hold."
