Saks hosts avant garde up close and personal evenings Saks host Up Close and Personal evening for 2013 The Saks Art Team recently took their creativity on the road for a round of Up Close and Personal events - educational evenings designed to inspire staff. Alison Dace, creative director, was joined by art team members Tom Berry and Luke Pluckrose in Leeds, London and Darlington to present an insight into the creative process and the inspirations that make them tick. Three very different presentations followed, providing something for every member of the audience. Says Alison: "It was so energising to have no boundaries and work on this one as individuals. All three of us totally enjoyed taking our consumer heads off." Alison was inspired by Africa, using crochet and knitting techniques to create tactile hair looks. "I love exploring texture," she said. "I also thoroughly enjoyed the research element of creating these looks and exploring how to interpret different techniques." Saks host Up Close and Personal evening for 2013 Tom Berry was inspired by London architecture, and the colours that reflect from it. Taking his cue from what he sees on his way to the Covent Garden academy each day, structure was inspired by the Millennium Bridge while colours referenced pink and purple reflections from the Gherkin and the grey tones of the Shard. Looks ranged from a grungy wet look with plaits to a blue-black bob inspired by a policeman's helmet. The final look was a hoodie, crafted from synthetic hair.
