Crisis at christmas launches search for volunteer hairdressers Crisis at Christmas volunteer hairdressersCrisis is once again appealing for volunteer hairdressers to donate their time and skills over the festive period. The homeless charity will be setting up temporary centres in London, Newcastle and Edinburgh this Christmas to provide vulnerable homeless people with hot meals, companionship and essential services including health checks, housing advice and information about training and education.
Hairdressers are being called on to donate their services by washing, cutting and blow-drying hair for vulnerable adults who are spending their Christmas period alone. Trevor Sorbie stylist Petros Mairoudhiou will be volunteering and is appealing to fellow stylists to give their time for this important cause: Petros says: "Working at Trevor Sorbie in Covent Garden I’ve been astonished at the increase in homeless people visible on the streets and sleeping rough and I want to do something to help. "I think it’s so important to give back to the society that we live in and in the current economic climate it’s so easy to lose everything and end up on the streets. All you have to do is register online and select which shelter you want and what shifts you can work." Find out more
Qualifications to volunteer with the salon team are not always necessary, but people who sign up must be enthusiastic and excited by the prospect of providing these very special services to Crisis guests. Volunteers are able to apply online or alternatively by calling 0300 636 1000.
