Celebrity hairdresser Adee Phelan has officially launched his new training academy at the Cube in Birmingham.

Industry guests turned out in force to support the initiative which will see hundreds of local youngsters, many from disadvantaged communities, become hairdressing apprentices in Birmingham.

The academy is a partnership between Adee and corporate services company esg, who will provide the business focus, skills and assessments.

Errol Douglas MBE, performed the official cutting of the ribbon. He was joined in the ceremony by senior members of esg. Anthony Benton and Gavin Freed.

Said Anthony: "we are proud to help all these local young people become hair apprentices through this exciting project with Adee. The expert training they receive here will really boost their careers. This is good news for everyone at a time when all we seem to hear is doom and gloom. For everyone who gets a job through this project the wider community and local economy will benefit."
