Creating a colour change doesn't have to involve chemicals and permanent commitment; our latest step-by-step demonstrates how you can create a subtle ombré effect using hair extensions from Great Lengths.

At the nape, take a U-shaped section from ear to ear following the contour of the head. Apply the strands using a tracking method with flat bonds, alternating colours throughout the row.

Working towards the crown, continue to follow the same pattern incorporating the sides once the top of the ears are reached.

Complete the final row using an alternating method.

Take small vertical sections from the crown to the nape and smoothly move the scissors downwards from the end of the natural hair length, to blend in the extensions.

At the front, use the same technique to create soft, face-framing layers and blend the sides with the back at a slight angle to softly connect the two sections.

Deep point-cut the ends to soften the natural look.

Refine the finish by texturising individual strands to blend in the colours.
