Redken encouraged its UK salon owners to learn, earn and live with an inspiring business summit in San Francisco.

Following three days of seminars at their annual Symposium in Las Vegas, the British contingent headed to the west coast for an extra day of dedicated education delivered by Redken artist Linda Macchi and manager of education development for hair colour and texture, Daniel Dhoud.

Kenneth Campbell, managing director of L'Oreal Professional Products UK and ROI opened the day, telling delegates that the energy and drive he'd witnessed in Las Vegas was truly inspiring and that it was the dedication and commitment of salon teams to thank for the growth of the professional hair market.

The session also saw Sarah Power, general manager of Redken and Pureology UK and ROI share some insights into the current UK hairdressing market - women are buying more products in-salon, older women are the biggest consumers of professional products and 71% of women are currently using colour, with a third choosing an in-salon option.

Guest speaker Linda shared expert advice for increasing the number of clients opting for colour, with tips on the perfect consultation, rebooking and marketing colour as an experience rather than a maintenance service.

Daniel closed the morning with an inspiring look at the trends driving consumers, with takeaway ideas for improving retail, exciting clients and making the salon a destination experience.
